It was once a piece of land with nothing except laid with grasses and few trees only. Magnificently, now it becomes a holy land with a new beautiful church appearing in front of my own eyes. This is the third Free Methodist Church in Cambodia.
This new church is the grace and the blessing of God to the people on Gorsachalia Island West. It is also the endeavor contributed by a building team of the Teen Mission International from the US. Twenty-seven team members came to Cambodia to finish the construction in two months. They all are vivacious youth. The youngest one is twelve years old. They are young but professional and disciplined when they were building the church.
The dedication of this new church was held on August 26. Although the weather was cloudy, it didn't subside our excitement to see the new church. God was kind to us. It did not rain while we were traveling to the island by boat, but it was a heavy pour as we arrived at the church. It brought a wind that made us cool. And the rains stopped when we left. God is perfect !
This day, over sixty villagers came to the dedication service. Most of them were women and children. The group of international people, Bishop and Mrs. Joe James, Bishop Shimada and Mr. Jo Takamura from Japan, Bishop Jim Tuan from the Philippines, Dr. Art Brown, Rev. and Mrs. David Yardy, Miss Carol Bartlett (US), Rev. Derek Ho, Rev Polly Ho, Rev. Raymond Wong, Mr. Kenneth Chan and Miss Jackeline Lee (HK), Dr. Narendra John (India), Rev. Jimmy Tsai (Taiwan) are cordially invited to witness this beautiful moment.

Asia Area director Rev. David Yardy was our honorable speaker. It was special that he also preached at the dedication of the church on Gorsachalia Island East three years ago. At that time we prayed this island would be surrounded by Christians. Praise the Lord, now there are Free Methodist Churches on both the east side and west side of the island. Rev. Yardy claimed that this new church was a light. She would enlighten the whole Gorsachalia Island West. He reminded us that Christians' lights should shine before men and let people know Jesus Christ. And Bishop Joe James led the dedicating prayer. Before we prayed, Bishop James asked each of us to lay a hand on the wall while praying. This symbolized that we dedicated the church to God and presented our blessings to the church.
May the brothers and sisters of the Gorsachalia Island West continue to grow in the Lord and become a lamp stand to attract people unto our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen !
