Clean Drinking
Water for the Western Villagers on Kor Sachaliah Island
A while back an American church sent an
offering which enabled us to drill wells on the west side of Kor
Sachaliah Island and near the entrance to Prek Thei Village. These are
the third and fourth wells, after the first ones inside Prek Thei and
on the east side of Kor Sachaliah. Before these drilled wells, the
villagers used river water for drinking, the same river that is used
for washing clothes, bathing, washing farm animals and for sewage
disposal. Although this was quite unsanitary, they had no alternative.
Now that there are drilled wells, the villagers can taste clean water.
The First Christmas Gift
Exchange
Christmas 1999 was the last Christmas of
the previous century, but for many brothers and sisters in the
Cambodian church and students in the House of Love, this was the first
Christmas of their lives. There is no legal holiday for Christmas in
Cambodia. Pastora Pol especially placed a Christmas tree in the church
along with some simple decorations to make the celebration of Jesus'
birth memorable for them.. This was the first time for the believers
to see such a beautiful Christmas tree, and they couldn't keep from
expressing their deep appreciation for it. They also experienced a
gift exchange for the first time, blessing one another in joy and
celebration.
House
of Love
For the House of Love students, they not
only received a Christmas gift each, but each one also wore a new
tee-shirt printed with the House of Love logo and reading "House
of Love, Cambodia, Christmas '99."
Rev Kevin
Austin visited Cambodia
Rev Kevin Austin took a trip to Cambodia in February. He helped in the
Light and Life Bible Training Centre for 2 weeks. Please pray
for his sharing back in the States so that more American churches are
aware of the needs and opportunities in Cambodia.
