House of Joy

The building of the House of Joy is completed. A friend has donated some money to build a brick fence for the church compound to replace the barb-wired fence. We need money to buy the kitchen wares, spoons and plates, tables and chairs, and other necessary furniture. We are looking for sponsors for the 60 children.

Light and Life Bible Training Center

There were 33 students that came for the latest module, April 29 - May 10. All of them are leaders of the churches or house churches. The oldest student was more than 65 years old and the youngest one was about 20 years old. Ten people came from two house churches in two other provinces. They are the leaders of these two house churches, who want to affiliate with us. For the time being, we have started the relationship by helping to train their leaders, as this is the most important to the church.

Dr. John teaching
Dr. Narendra John, from the India Free Methodist Church, taught on The Christian Family and Ethics. Dr. John did not just give them the teaching from the Bible, but also integrated the information with the Asian culture. The students found it very helpful and practical.

Happy Birthday

Paula blowing the candles

May 2 is the birthday of our missionary Paula (Pol) Guazon. On that day, at the end of the day's class, the students of the Light and Life Bible Training Center gave Paula a surprise - a birthday party. They made Cambodian sticky-rice pudding and used it as the birthday cake. They could not find colorful candles, so they used four big white candles. We all laughed and Paula was amazed to see this, "When I was in Hong Kong, the Chinese used white candles only at funerals." Yes, the old self was buried with Jesus, and now is resurrected with Jesus in new life.

Labor work on Labor Day

It was a holiday on Labor Day (May 1). The students of the House of Love and the young people of Prek Thei Church helped to clean the grounds of the police station and the market place. This is a love service to the people in the community. It was also a kind of education to the people that they have to keep their places clean.

Phnom Penh

Some young people are coming for a Bible study class. Our three university students bring friends to the fellowship in Phnom Penh. They are also helping the house churches in the villages on Sundays. We can see these three young men are growing in stature and wisdom, and in love for God and men.

A well-known video broadcasting DJ comes to the Phnom Penh Bible study group. He is a devoted Christian. He also brings some friends and children to the fellowship in Phnom Penh. The work is expanding very fast in Phnom Penh. More and more people keep coming. Please pray for a receptive and obedient heart to the Lord's Word.

Preparation for English Camp

A group from a church in the US will come in late July to hold an English Camp. Now Paula is very busy in the preparation. Please pray for the preparation and enrollment.

Pray for Paula's mother

Paula wrote, "My sister called me the other day and asked me to pray for our mother. She is getting worse. I have a feeling that she is slipping away and I can't even help her. Please pray for this situation. My sister said my mother is swelling all over and has some blood clots in her body."

"O God Have regard for thy covenant; for the dark places of the land are full of the abitations of violence. Let not the downtrodden be put to shame; let the poor and needy praise thy name." (Psalm 74:20-21)
