Since Miss Rebecca Chung came back to the field in August as a career missionary, House of Joy officially started operation. Miss Chung is responsible for overseeing everything at the HOJ, and we have also hired some Christians to work in the center. Brother Jeason is the center's director and some other women and sisters are responsible for cooking and other work. Each day Rebecca will go with a brother by motorcycle from the island to a market town to buy vegetables. However, since the motorcycle is under-powered and needs to carry two adults and a large basket of vegetables, it is usually hard to get the motorcycle moving, and they have to push it. For this reason, we had to purchase an adequately powered motorcycle.

One day, a doctor and nurses from the short term team came to HOJ to check the students' vision and teeth, and do physical examinations. What bothered the medical team the most was the children's head lice. |

Since they are always "infecting" each other, even though the medical team can kill the lice and nits once, as soon as they get back in a group or go home, they will quickly get head lice all over again. The interesting thing is, the children have made a game out of picking off their friends' lice.
