Mission Team

A Field for Harvest Print E-mail

It is a great joy to serve our living God in the 13th Cambodia Medical Mission as a Team Leader. There are many blessings from God which words cannot express fully.

  1. A Wonderful Team

We had 25 people on this trip, which included 2 medical doctors, 1 dentist, 10 nurses and other experienced leaders. For half of them this was their first trip to Cambodia. Our dentist, with his wife and 3 year old boy, participated courageously in this trip without worry of illness. By the grace of God, we were very healthy on land and safe in the air. No one got seriously ill, just 1 or 2 got mild colds. We all came back in one piece. Praise the Lord for His great protection.
  2. Blessing with the Luggage

We brought about 50 pieces of luggage without going overweight. The Hong Kong Dragon Air staff was very helpful and kind in checking our luggage. Although the Customs officers in Cambodia were curious about the medicine, all the luggage was cleared after some conversation. We praise the Lord for His watching over us in many small things.
  3. Fruitful Service

We have 10 preaching points in Cambodia now. This time, we held clinics in 7 villages. In 7 days, we served 796 patients for medical treatment and 256 for dental treatment. 80 students from the House of Love came for physical check ups. The needs are tremendous, but our resources are limited in manpower, medicine and time. Please pray to God that He will take care of their needs with His mercy. In the afternoon, we arranged for 8 people to do visitation. We visited 45 families and brought 12 people to the Lord. Please continue to pray for the follow up.
  4. Beautiful Weather
Before we came, there was a lot of rain that created many muddy roads and many big holes everywhere. However, during these 12 days, the weather was excellent with sunshine all the time. There was rain in the evening but that did not interfere with our daily ministry at all. We really experienced His marvelous blessings. Isn't our God full of delight in all this arrangement?
  5. A Growing Field
The 10 churches grow steadily. In the Prek Thei Church, the young people can lead the service with good music and can communicate with us in fairly good English. They were very helpful for interpretation while we had the clinics in different villages. Without them we would be handicapped in language. Please continue to pray for them to grow strong in spiritual life as well as in knowledge. I can see the church leaders know more about the Scriptures and church administration than before. Please continue to pray that they can continue to be godly church leaders in the future.
  6. An Acknowledgement by the Mayor
In the welcoming service, the village leader said in front of the guests that we taught their children and young people decently. We hope our Christian witness can influence many key leaders of the village for the Lord. With their support, we can develop more ministries in the future.
  7. New building site for church and childcare Center in Treyslaa

It is a great joy to see the new and beautiful site in Treyslaa. On this we plan to build a church and our third childcare center, the House of Peace.
  8. Two New Projects

There are two groups that would like to join the Free Methodist Church in Cambodia. A) Stong Village is about 300 kilometers from Phnom Penh, an independent church with 30 people, which was started 8 months ago by Mr. Pheng Charrdara, a worker in World Relief, who graduated from the Phnom Penh Bible School. B) Phnom Phen Living Stone Church is an independent church with 15 people which was started 3 years ago by Mr. Peou Samnang, also a worker with World Relief. Both of them live a simple life for the Lord in order to spread the gospel among their Buddhist neighbors. Our missionary Pol (Paula) and I visited them and explained the Free Methodist beliefs and polity. They will pray about the affiliation. If it is the will of God, we will have two more churches in new areas.

The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.... May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy! He that goes forth weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. (Ps 126:3,5,6)
