Joint Easter Baptism

I think everyone is excited to know about the joint Easter worship Celebration and Baptism. Two boats left Prek Thei bassac river at 8:00 a.m. Sunday. Many of those were baptismal candidates. People mostly came from Kor Sa Chealear west, Troy Slaa, Prek Ksev, and Prek Thei. Our worship was very lively even if it was very hot inside the Kor sa Chalear church. No fans, as there is no electricity. Only one from Svay Joo came since the road is bad. Nobody came from Svay Proteal.

After the worship, we had lunch together and rested. The baptism started at 1:30 p.m. with worship, challenge and final instruction. Then we walked from the church to the river. There were a total of 64 people who were baptized. 40 from Prek Thei church. The river was filled with people watching others were singing "Amazing Grace." Polly Ho, who also preached during the Easter worship, helped in officiating. She worked with Samuel Sar baptizing the older ones. It was very special for Samuel Sar to be able to baptize his mother in Law who is 73 years old.

I worked with Kung Ty ( Joshua ) and we had more people on our line. It was very exciting to be the one to baptize those young people. Just before we started, loud laughter broke out then followed by splashing of water. But they were not splashing to one another. I told them to be serious and asked why they were laughing. They said : "Because there is joy in our hearts!" I realized he was sincere so I kept quiet and stopped comparing the way I was baptized 26 years ago. Then laughter even grew louder and more splashing. It was then I noticed a human waste floating very close and nobody wanted to get closer to that floating waste. Anyway, Kung Ty rescued me from that situation by asking the people to pray and went ahead to pray.

There were no special flowers, but lots of photos taken by the Hongkong team. In this 10th medical team, I was able to interpret with the doctor. There was only one doctor, and we have enough interpreters. We were very tired and hot. Some lost their slippers while we were in the river shore, but everyone went home happy and rejoicing. When the team came back to Prek Thei, they were welcomed with young coconuts by our young people.

Pray for these 64 new brothers and sisters. We will appreciate your prayers especially for Svay Proteal outreach. Many people are weak spiritually, physically, and the children are threatened by a school teacher that if they'll join the Sunday School class taught by christians, they won't be accepted in the public school. Thank you for all your prayers.
