Some sharing on Mission Team 13 Print E-mail

During the short term missions trip to Cambodia, two things deeply impressed me, and I would like to share them with you.

First of all, I saw God's protection in the weather. The first two days after we arrived in Cambodia were rainy with heavy downpours at times. We were concerned that the third day (Monday) we might not be able to "open shop" -- going to different villages for medical clinics and visitation. But, God's arm is not shortened. Monday was clear and we could open the clinic on schedule. Not only that, every day when we held a clinic was clear (except there was a light shower on Sunday night, when we did not hold a clinic)! On the other hand, hot weather makes it hard to sleep at night. I remember that during the short term missions trip in 1999, God used the rain to make it good for sleeping. Then this year He made a cool breeze to blow (really cool -- I got chilled and caught a cold!). God really takes care of us!

The other thing is that God let me have "wonderful fellowship." In Hong Kong when those close to me got together we always shared about how hard our work was, talked about current social conditions and other hot topics, or how we were busy with this or that. Rarely would we simply sing a song, chat about our recent life of faith, share about spiritual things, pray together about God's kingdom or those who have not yet been saved, etc. But as soon as our team could be together for a time doing God's work with one heart and mind, then this sort of sharing developed naturally. There was also real working together among members (when one was sick, other members would automatically cover his responsibilities), concern for one another (asking after each other and helping one another). These let me experience anew how wonderful this kind of fellowship can be!

Maybe because we put our time into being busy with all sorts of things, we then have no time to give to God, and so we lack this kind of experience. May you give God and those around you more "time." I also hope that you can join in short term missions service and have a more abundant life.
