My 3-month home assignment has just finished and I am safely back to Cambodia.  The first home assignment was an unforgettable one because it enriched my experience as a missionary.

Experience the provision of God

Since I didn't have a place to stay, God was kind, and a brother in the Lord was gracious to provide me a cozy apartment to stay in throughout the assignment.  Moreover, I did not lack anything for living, even though there was no TV or telephone, which provided more quiet time for me.  I also had the opportunity to visit some 'old' church members outside Hong Kong.

Experience the teamwork in Hong Kong

I worked at the Conference office 4 days a week with the colleagues and the missionary-to-be for the whole period.  The style of working is totally different from that of Cambodia.  However, I enjoyed the mutual support and sharing among us, especially the snacks and jokes.

Experience the sharing among churches and fellowships

I shared the ministries on different occasions (such as in FM churches, other denominational churches, seminaries, fellowships, prayer meetings and mission team meetings) for a total of over twenty times. The brothers and sisters in the Lord always encouraged me through their attention and substantial support for our work in Cambodia.  Of course, I was quite exhausted from traveling from place to place, especially to the ones with which I was not familiar.  It refreshed my mission and conveyed the vision to different congregations.

Experience preciousness of the home church relationship

Even though I could not always attend my home church worship or fellowship meetings, I thank the Lord that I could have timely fellowship with the brothers and sisters at different occasions such as a funeral service, a wedding, visitation, society meeting and fellowship with pastors.

The new term has begun and I am busy picking up my work in Cambodia again.  New adjustments from the modern city to simple living are another challenge ahead.  Nevertheless, 'we know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves Him' (Romans 8:28).  May God continue to teach me how to love Him more closely and deeply.
