I am the youngest in the family where
I have two sisters and a brother. My
father and mother had passed away respectively in 1990 and 1996.
I thank the Lord that they had the chance to accept Christ in the
hospital. May God remember their
faith.
I was converted at a school
evangelical meeting in 1975. I began
attending church actively since 1978. My
mother church is Kwai Chung FM church. Thank
the Lord that I could grow up and learn continuously with the brothers and
sisters in the ‘big family'.
I was a civil servant and had worked
at the construction branch of the Housing Department for more than 13 years.
In 1995, I worked for the FM denomination as an Executive Secretary at
the Conference office. In 1999, I
left for
Australia
to study a MBA course for two years.
Afterwards, I work again for the Free Methodist Conference.
Thank God that I had the opportunity
to study a Diploma Course at the Chinese Graduate School of Theology.
I had a wonderful and fruitful time to know more in God's Word. I
graduated in June 2003.
My Calling
All is the grace of God when I review
different stages of my life. I
understand more as what Apostle Paul says ‘And we know that in all things God
works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose' (Romans 8:28). It's not
my choice to select what seems to be the ‘best' for myself instead of
God's wondrous works. My life has
been going through various phases including : working for the government in a
construction field; serving the Free Methodist Conference in administration
works; growing up with brothers and sisters in the church; studying overseas to
learn more about cross cultural aspects and equipping myself at the seminary.
It seems God continues to prepare and shape me to be His tool in His
plan. However, the most important
thing is NOT the ‘Doing' but the ‘Being' of my life.
When I see the needs of Cambodia, it is the start to leave my ‘comfort
zone' to experience God and learn to submit to God in a deeper way.
I know I still have many weaknesses and limitations; ‘The Lord will
fulfill His purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever- do not abandon
the works of your hands' (Psalm 138:8).
The Role in Cambodian Ministries
The Free Methodist Church of Hong Kong
has been establishing ministries in Cambodia for more than 10 years.
Currently, we have more than 10 preaching points and various works are
being developed. The field is big
but the workers are few. However,
the missionary team comprises members from different nationalities such as
American, Filipino, Japanese and Hong Kong.
They work hard to outreach, pastoral and establish churches of people
ministries. On the other hand, the
economy of Cambodia is still undergoing development.
The local people mostly are living in poverty especially the villagers
and farmers. In order to work
together with the ministries, the Free Methodist Church bought a land of about
twenty thousand square meters for six blocks of building such as Missionary
quarter, student centre, amenity centre and the like to serve the missions
agency, the churches and the community in the nearly future.
My role is to assist in the construction works and partnership with the
missionary team. This is a very
challenging service and may God build up His works. ‘Unless the Lord builds
the house, its builders labor in vain. ‘Unless
the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain' (Psalm
127:1).
