The last farewell at the airport

In the Commissioning Service, I requested my friends
and colleagues not to see me off at the airport because I think it's
time consuming to go to the airport just to say good-bye. However,
Rev. Derek Ho, Rev. Polly Ho and the Conference colleagues came. In
addition, Pastor and Mrs. Law and my pastor Ms Pang also came to say
goodbye. My dearly elderly member Mrs. Cheng and a member of Glad
Blessings church, Ms. Leung came too. Last but not least, my dearly
brother, Mr. Jack Cheng was kind to drive me to the airport that eased
me burden.
We prayed and took pictures with a unspeakable
warmness, my eyes were red and I never forget the grace of God who
grants me so loving brothers and sisters in the God's family.
New environment
It took some time to pass
the custom in Phnom Penh because I lost the big baggage which did not go
along with me via Bangkok. However, I could get it back on the
following day but I could also see how the problem in transit where the
person's arrival was always faster than that of the baggage.
I was greeted at the
Puchuntong Airport by Pastor Paula, Rebecca and some University
students. A very scented flower ring was put around my neck as their
warm welcome.
Commissioning Service Dec 14, 2003
 I stay temporarily
at missionary Jim and Margaret Nelson's apartment because they went back
to visit their parents and relative in the States until late January
2004. Two other workers and Daniel Sar, a pastor of the Cambodia Free
Methodist Church, also live in this apartment. They are very nice and
helpful. Pauline (one of the workers) takes care of my laundry, cooking
and cleaning the house. Her skill in cooking is wonderful and food is
delicious (of course less meat and not so greasy).
The Mission office (also the Phnom Penh Church) is
just across the street of the apartment. It will save time to work
there. I had the opportunity to visit the University students'
dormitory where about 12 students are living. I joined their evening
prayer time for about 20 minutes. I could feel the lively fellowship
among them. I pray to God that He will use them to be the future
leaders of the church in the kingdom of God.
Days without television and radio
There is a totally change in my living habit. Even
though there are no television and radio, I don't feel bored but on the
contrary I could work more attentively. Besides the rushing time when
Rebecca took me to visit some missionaries, to open telephone service
account, bank account, I enjoy the accompany of the two cats and a
dog. Again, a university student is willing to teach me driving though
he cannot speak English well and I in Khmer either. I sleep around 10
o' clock in the evening and get up around 6 in the morning. The weather
is not hot as expected (around 24 C) because December is still a cool
time in Cambodia.
Busy life is not limited to
Hong Kong. I now begin to take up some work like bookkeeping while
Margaret Nelson is in the States. On the other hand, I will speak at
the Phnom Penh Church this coming Sunday and hold a Bible class on
Wednesdays afternoon. Moreover, I will meet some engineers to discuss
about the land project next week. I think it is good to me that I would
not feel lonely because there is not much spare time.
Prayer points
-
Good fellowship with God and serene time in devotion.
-
A healthy body especially mosquitoes are everywhere that irritate
me. (They told me that there were less mosquitoes in cooler season).
-
I have called my elder sister and she is fine. May God continue
to grant His peace and grace to her and her family. Pray also for my
second sister and brother too.
-
I could find a good tutor for language study as soon as
possible. I will also attend a Khmer language class in the University
starting on 8th Jan 2004.
-
A good memory to remember all the faces and their correct names,
especially the university students.
-
Teamwork with the other missionaries and local co-workers.
-
Visa extension, car license application and driving lesson.
