January 1 is also the public holiday in Cambodia. Many people will have their family gathering wherever near or afar. The Prek Thei FM church where is located at the village also conducted a New Year Eve celebration on the last day of 2003. I drove the students to the village in one hour and fifteen minutes. The meeting also welcomed the members from different provinces just like a big family gathering. The young pastor shared the story of Joshua who led the Israelite into the land of honey and milk. Joshua challenged the people to walk on the Will of God no longer with murmuring or complaints. Today, we make up our minds to follow God but most of the time we will complain or murmur too.

In Cambodia, I easily complain many things such as the traffic, corrupted police, mosquitoes, low efficiency, chaos of system......Anyway, it is my will to serve in Cambodia and why am I so upset about. May God always have mercy on me.

Thank the Lord I have found an apartment which is near the downtown and other missionaries' home. The landlord is a Chinese Cambodian but he and his family could not speak in Chinese. Nevertheless, he is willing to teach me Khmer and I will teach him English in return. May God use this opportunity that I may share the Bible with Him in English. Cambodia is a Buddhist Country. I could see lots of shrines or beautiful temples even though the people are normally not rich. Their hearts are already open but who will tell them Jehovah is the true and living God?

The local churches made use of the Christmas celebrations to outreach the neighbors and there are always people who are willing to believe in Christ. Just like there were around 40 people came to Christ in 3 respective church meetings in Christmas. God is really gracious to love the people in all nations.

Thanks for your continuous prayers and my sisters are doing fine in Hong Kong especially my elder sister who is recovering from treatments has good progress too. Some church members also keep me informed of how my mother church is going. Even I am far away but my heart is near. Surely, you are in my prayers too!

I would be grateful for your prayers in the following:

  1. To move into a new apartment and get along well with the landlord's family (I live at the first floor)
  2. To learn Khmer more efficiently and effectively (start language course at a University on Jan 8)
  3. To buy a car for ministry use (around US$4,000)
  4. To get familiar with the university students via different occasions such as worship, Bible class, personal contacts
  5. To get used to the mosquitoes-environment
