The power of prayer
Four years ago I met a newly wed couple when I went on my exposure trip. After that trip I started to pray for them, and asked some prayer partners to pray for them too.
A year after I started working in Cambodia, this couple told me that they are now believers and have a son. I was so amazed at how the Lord worked in their lives through prayer. They asked me to visit them, so I dropped by their place before going to the Philippines.
They shared different difficulties they've gone through in their business and married life. The wife had decided to separate ways, but the husband called a man to whom I'd introduced them (he is also a servant) before I went back home. They said that in the middle of the night that servant came and prayed for them. Since that time the servant has become their regular visitor for their special lessons.
They are now attending an evangelical church recognized by the government in their country. The husband is now working in real estate and the wife is working in an advertising agency. They are now enjoying their life as God's children, and are sharing their faith boldly with their family and friends. In fact they are encouraging me to come to their place to work in the same role I have now. Whew! When will be that right time, Lord? I am waiting patiently.
MMI-WMI and FMY CAMP
April 6-8, 2009, the MMI-WMI camp was held in Kampot Province. There were sixty-one participants from eight churches. Lectures were taught by our own local pastors. Praise the Lord, one mother received Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
On the last night, we had a drama contest, with the skits related to the lectures they'd heard on the Christian Family, Christians in the Church, and Christians in the Community. We also had a Bible quiz for the first time. They were encouraged to read their Bibles every day for next camp. Thank God for the wisdom and knowledge He gave to our local leaders.
April 17-20, 2009, the youth camp was held in Prek Thei. This year's theme was "You're not alone." There were 146 campers. They were put into groups of eight. Youth leaders had asked the Evangelical Fellowship of Cambodia (EFC) Youth Department to lecture on "What should I do to live like a champion." Pastor Grace and I spoke on personality traits. In the final session, Pastor Joel Margin shared the word of God, and then they went to the water park. Since I arrived here in Cambodia, this is the second time I witnessed camps. There are improvements in our local leaders. Praise the Lord for the guidance and cooperation of each organization's officers and pastors. To God be the glory.
Girls Dorm
One of the girls graduated in August 2008. This coming August 2009, five of them will graduate. So, only three will be staying. The five graduating girls are very busy finishing their requirements before the deadline. They are looking forward to having jobs after August. One of them has passed an interview at the International University Hospital. Please pray that they can land good jobs and be able to help their families. Praise the Lord for the sponsors of these five girls who have been faithful in sending their support for the tuition fees, as well as their never failing prayers for their success. One way or the other, these girls will be able to carry the burden of their family needs, and most of all, lift up the name of the Lord, who has been faithful to them through their whole life in the University.
