Dear brothers and sisters,

Time passes quickly, and in the blink of an eye, over two months of 2005 have gone by. This morning I was planning to write this letter to all of you but some matters arose unexpectedly. At the end of last year there was the earthquake and tsunami in Asia which made us feel deeply shaken. At the start of the year the Cambodian church had two sisters killed in a traffic accident and this again shook our hearts and souls.

Grief

The younger brother of those two young women is a senior high school student of the House of Love in Prek Thei. Since this happened I have been wanting to find an opportunity to talk with him. Even though it is difficult to do grief counseling (language is the greatest limitation), I hoped to listen and be able to understand his heart feelings and to pray for him. Finally, two weeks ago I visited him at his home and through the conversation was able to understand more of his grief. When he was born, his father had already abandoned his wife and four daughters. Not experiencing a father's care and love had already been a big problem in his life. Then before the age of 20 he unexpectedly lost the two older sisters closest to him. (The whole family relied on their factory wages to provide for the family's daily needs.) This accident led him to question once more the meaning of life, and because of losing their life support pillar, he also feels like there is no help and no hope. Would you please pray for him also? Pray that he will experience the Heavenly Father's provision and healing.

Strengthening New Lives

Thank you all for praying for me as I teach discipleship classes. Right now there are two groups, one each Sunday and another on Tuesday afternoons. Even though the number attending has gone down, attendance is irregular, they arrive late or leave early, students don't complete homework assignments and other such things that make me upset at times, when I see new believers truly growing and seeking after truth, this has become my greatest source of comfort and satisfaction. Thanks be to the Heavenly Father!

Facing Changes

There is no greater lesson to be learned on the mission field than that of facing changes. Starting the end of January I had to take over responsibility for the Childcare program and supervision of our first Childcare hostel here, House of Love. The reason for the change was that our field supervisor, Rev. Paula Guazon, had to leave in January because of ill health and will be unable to continue serving here. With facing these new and heavy responsibilities I really need you to remember me in prayer.

Today we received the news that the older sister of our new field supervisor, Rev. Joel Margin, had passed away. He and his wife have to leave suddenly tomorrow (Mar. 9) for the Philippines to attend the funeral. Their original plans to start Home Ministry Assignment at the end of March were moved up by three weeks, and the unfinished work they leave behind had to be taken up by our fellow missionaries. Tomorrow is the start of our three day Women's Retreat. Since Grace Margin cannot attend now, she asked Rebecca Chung to take over her speaking assignment, meaning that Rebecca is now responsible for two messages. Besides this, we don't know if Grace was able to get other people to take care of the other things she was responsible for. We just know that we have to rent another bus, because originally Joel and Grace were going to transport some of the women from another province to the retreat. This retreat needs your prayer support!
