Dear brothers and sisters:

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." (Luke 2:14)

The local church and Bible study groups have already started their Christmas celebrations. May the good news of the birth of the new born King Jesus spread to every village! Christmas is a good time to invite non-Christians to the church. Outside the church people celebrate Christmas in secular ways, so people are very curious of the alternative celebrations inside the church. Please pray that many Cambodians will be drawn to His Kingdom!

Please pray for DaRoth for God's healing

In my last newsletter I mentioned that the medical situation in Cambodia is not good.  Pastor Sar went to Vietnam to seek medical treatment. Recently, we have a high school graduate, DaRoth, who also needed medical attention. He is a student of The House of Joy who, like other students, could have gone to the university through our sponsorship. However, due to his illness the last several months, he didn't pursue his studies. He went to Vietnam last month to see the doctor and was diagnosed with ulcer and hepatitis B. The doctor told him to return a month later for follow-up visits, but he does not know whether he can afford it. He also told me that he feels sorry for having been a financial burden to his parents. Because of his illness, his parents are deeply in debt. Dear God, may you demonstrate your healing power in DaRoth!

Although local medical services are insufficient, for children there are children's hospitals to provide free medical services. SoPha is a child from Prek Thei village. For several years he has been suffering from brain tumor.  A few months ago his tumor began to swell, and the doctors have operated several times to have it removed. The surgery was very involved. It requires taking off skin from his thigh to put back on the head where the tumor was removed. SoPha's sisters called on church members earnestly to donate blood and pray.

The doctors asked them why they did not seek medical attention sooner and were not optimistic about SoPha's recover. But the Heavenly Father has mercy on them. Not only did He treat SoPha, He also taught him to fully rely on Him. Because of this experience, his oldest sister, a factory worker, has also accepted Jesus. Now four members of the family of seven are Christian.

Let's turn to the God who turns crisis into opportunities

Last Saturday on my way to the village to join the local pastors for Christmas celebration, my younger sister sent me a text message from Hong Kong. My father had a stroke at home and was admitted to hospital. Since I was not in Hong Kong, I could only pray unceasingly for my father. I also sent a text message to Rev. Polly Ho that day.  With the company of Dr. Wong from the missions committee, Polly visited my father.  They also called me from the hospital so I could pray for my father over the phone.  Although he was unable to speak, Dr. Wong said that when I prayed for my father, he closed his eyes. We believe that he was alert and had joined me in prayer.

I am particularly grateful for Rev. Polly Ho's rapid response. On the one hand, she visited my father and led my family to pray together. On the other hand, she emailed many brothers and sisters and asked them to pray on behalf of my father. Thank you for all your prayers. In the past few days my father's condition has greatly improved. With such a good prayer support, I really can continue to serve God here in the mission field.

Please pray for the salvation for my family. Their willingness to pray together with Rev. Polly Ho is a good sign that their heart is open to Jesus. May the Heavenly Father use my father's stroke, a major crisis in my family, as an opportunity to bring salvation to my family! May the Lord who brings healing to the body and soul have mercy on us!

Praises

1. Pastor Sar was healed and received financial support from brothers and sisters to pay for the medical expenses.

2. SoPha was cured of his tumor and his sister accepted Christ.

3. New believers in one of our churches (mostly mothers of our sponsored children in the House of Joy) continue to worship with us. Some of the husbands even helped with cooking at the Christmas celebration. They are taking their first step in connecting with the church.

4. My father's stroke isn't too serious and he is making good progress. My mother is also facing this crisis with a positive attitude.

Prayer Requests

1. Those non-Christians who attend Christmas celebrations in local church and bible study groups will continue to seek God.

2. Pastor Sar recently has headache and edema, pray that our Heavenly Father will bring healing to him.

3. God's healing be upon DaRoth and there will be enough money for him to receive treatment.

4. God will heal my father's illness and let him experience His grace during his rehabilitation. Pray for his salvation.

5. God will grant my mother and siblings strength to take care of my father; that they will get to know God's wonderful work and be born again in Christ Jesus.

Have a blessed Christmas!  Peace with be you!
