Dear Brothers and sister,

Thanks for your prayer, emails and cards; and love money gift for my father's burial.  All the money gifts are donated for the school building ministry in Cambodia of the Free Methodist Church.  Your love is extended to Cambodia and many children are blessed !

The blessing of funeral

On the evening of 8th July my father's funeral was started with the comforting hymn  "the Lord is my Shepherd".  Many of my father's cousins came although we did not have close contact with them.  My father helped some of them to "migrate" to Hong Kong from Mainland China.  Some relatives came from Mainland China especially for the funeral.  This was their first time participating in a Christian service. They all found the comfort and hope in the hymns, the Word from the Bible, and could feel the assurance of eternal life of the Christians.

I realize this time that people coming to the funeral not just to show their respect and memory of the dead person, but their "presence" is a great support and concern to the family members.  Some of my friends in primary school also came.  Two senior pastors came for a short while just to pray for me and left for another meeting.  I think of the Scripture "It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting..." Then I tell myself, "In the future I will try my best to go to the funeral services as a support to the family."

I am thankful also that there is a place available in the cemetery for burial, and it rained after the burial service was finished, and after we all got into the car.

Cyclone Relief money for Myanmar

In early May there was a great cyclone in Yangon, Myanmar.  Our churches had collected some money for the relief.  I planned to bring the money to Yangon.  But because of my father's death I could not go and the office secretary went for me, together with two other church members.

In Yangon there was the Light & Lift Bible School.  The students all come from the mountain.  They study hard for the preparation to serve the Lord, but they have a very simple life.  Just a small amount of US$10 a month can support their living.

The Chinese church has established for 13 years but has moved place 7 times because of the rental contract.  Every time when the church moved, many people did not come because of the inconvenience of transportation.  The lady pastor is still serving faithfully in all these limited resources.

Please pray: (1) for support of the Bible students, (2) money to buy a place for the church.

Cambodia

Development project ---- We now focus in the East Ksachtunlea where our House of Joy located.  Though the land is not big, we can start with small scale.  The centre-in-charge, Brother Gideon was very excited about the project.  He and three other members dug out a fish pond, and built a fencing area for raising pigs.  Our project manager missionary Davis and his assistant brother Minea will visit them and train them about the technical skill to upgrade their capacity.

Many stealing, robberies and traffic accidents happen in Phnom Penh. Thieves once sneaked into our boys' dorm to steal the motorcycles, but thankful that it was not successful.

Please pray: (1) the development project will be successful and can support the church;

(2) the safety of our missionaries in traveling;  (3) the protection of the missionary homes, church buildings and dorms - no break in of thieves.

APFMMA Mission Congress - August 14th in India

The APFMMA Mission Congress coordinated by Mumbai FMC with about a hundred people attending the meeting.  Please pray for Pastor Shirish who is the head coordinator of all the work. Pray about the lodging, transportation, and meeting venue arrangements.

The Executive Committee meeting will be held on the 12th and 13th.  I am now preparing for the agenda and reports.  Pray for wisdom in discussion and planning for all the Executive Committee members from all over Asia, and also pray for clear communication in English.

About 40 overseas participants from Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Nepal, Myanmar, Cambodia and the United States will come.  But because of the recent bomb blast in some parts in India, some participants from US will not come, and also some because of the passport and visa problem cannot come.  Because of this, two workshops need to be cancelled because the speakers are not coming !  And our Bishop Matt Thomas also cannot come because of their son's health.  Please keep this family in your prayer.

Please pray: (1) all the speakers and missionaries who will share at the missions congress.  May God use them to inspire more hearts for missions.  (2) the presence of the Holy Spirit.

May our Lord extend our vision and territories For His Kingdom.

Serve together with you,

Polly
