May 25 to June 6, I went to Osaka and Tokyo for the 10th anniversary celebration of APFMMA. I enjoyed visiting some old friends and had good fellowship. I enjoyed sharing at some churches about the great work of God in Asia and His grace for APFMMA. I thank the Lord that the churches in Japan are missions-minded and are very supportive of APFMMA.
When I was in Tokyo, I went with Rev. & Mrs. Haga and some lovely women of the Koganei Free Methodist Church to Enoshima and Kamakura. Although all the ladies are in their 70s and 80s, they were full of energy and joy, and also dressed colorfully and beautifully. We visited the Enoshima Aquarium, Hasedera Temple and Kamakura Daibutsu (the Great Buddha which is a national treasure of Japan). The Hasedera Temple was built near a hill and is famous for its flowers. The hills are covered with pretty pink, blue and white flowers. God's creation is beautiful and wonderful.
In August the Tokyo FMC is sending Rev. & Mrs. Nojiri to Thailand through OMF. For many years they were missionaries to there with OMF. After returning to Tokyo and serving in the church for some years, they felt again the calling of God to go to Chiang Mai, Thailand, for missionary ministry again.
New vision for young people from Taipei
At the end of June, a mission group of 4 young people from Taipei came to Hong Kong. They had a three day trip to the leprosy village in Mainland China. They were so lively and full of energy that it made me feel young too. On the way one of the team members left her passport in the hotel. God was so good in letting us discover this early enough to get it back and still be on time to come back to Hong Kong. God had prepared people to help us.
New missionary to Cambodia
The 25th of July was a big celebration day for Miu-Ling Lee. She was commissioned to Cambodia as a long term missionary at the APFMMA 10th anniversary celebration in Hong Kong. Miu-Ling is the third missionary sent and fully supported by the Hong Kong Free Methodist Church to Cambodia.
New sponsorship program and new hope for children in China
We are starting a childcare ministry in Mainland China. Every time I go there, in order to save time, I travel each way by night bus for eight hours. Please pray for safety and strength. Part of the road is in the countryside and is quite rough. ¡§You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.¡¨ (Isa. 55:12) I am much encouraged by this verse. God is so wonderful and kind to me.
At present we have 10 students from grade 2 to grade 11 living in a broken down and leaking house of 150 sq. ft.. These students are children of the leprosy rehab patients who are living in a nearby isolated village because they are "rejected" by people, even by their relatives. Their parents cannot afford to support their living expenses, let alone schooling. We plan to purchase a 3 story house near the primary and secondary schools for the childcare ministry. Please pray for the provision. And please consider sponsoring one of these "rejected" students. You will bring new hope, new life and new meaning to their lives. If you want more information, please

New decade for APFMMA
August 2004 is the 10th Anniversary of APFMMA. Throughout the entire year, each member country is celebrating in their own country. As Executive Director, I have to go to the different countries to attend the celebrations. I have been to India and Japan so far. In Hong Kong it was on Sunday, July 25, together with the commissioning service of Ms Miu-Ling Lee. The church was packed with more than 200 people. People came with joyful and grateful hearts.
In mid-August I will go to the Philippines for the APFMMA 10th anniversary celebration there, together with a missions congress. I will also meet a lady who is considering going for ministry in the Mekong River countries.
New Ministries
May 20-21, we had a meeting for the Global Chinese Ministry at Holy Light Bible Seminary in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This is the follow up of the Global Chinese Ministry Consultation in September 2003 where a committee was formed. Chinese are scattered around the world and the population of Chinese is about 25% of the world population. At the same time, we are planning to start ministry in other Mekong River countries. Please pray with us for open doors and resources both in finances and workers. Please pray for the preparation and all kinds of coordination.
New and yet old concept for living
¡§One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper, he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.¡¨ (Proverbs 11:24-25). I like the story of the five loaves and two fish. Let us try and see God's wonderful work in our lives. It is beyond our understanding and yet is so real. Praise God.
