In the August APFMMA prayer calendar, the item for the 4th read, "Praise the Lord for the new family member that is going to join the Wilkins family next March."
It turns out that this was not to be. When Chris and Yuko went to see the doctor in Phnom Penh this past week, it was discovered that the baby had died. The Wilkins immediately flew to Bangkok, where David and Sherrill Yardy have been helping with arrangements and care. Yuko has already had the procedure to remove the dead fetus, and did not have to stay overnight in the hospital. After Yuko sees the Thai doctors again on Tuesday, August 22, the Wilkins will return to Phnom Penh. They will leave as scheduled on September 1 for Home Assignment in Japan and the US.
Polly Ho spoke to Yuko on the telephone, and reports, "Yuko feels a bit tired after the operation, and in peace, not sad. She and Chris are doing fine, both physically & emotionally. She says that they want to have another baby, but she trusts God has the best plan. She shared with me this verse: Job 1:21 "...the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."
Thanks for being in prayer for the Wilkins' family - for travel safety, preparation for Home Assignment, and emotional, physical and spiritual strength.
